Exclusively for Robinson Club guests, this tour sees you step back in time at Spinalonga – Europe's last leper colony that only closed in 1950. Sail to this eerie island from Elounda on a 25-minute cruise, and after a guided tour, there'll be a visit to the pretty port of Agios Nikolaos, too.
On a guided walk around this tiny islet, you'll hear the history of Spinalonga as a Venetian outpost, an Ottoman town and most recently, a leper colony which led to it being dubbed the ‘isle of tears'. See the main street, still lined with the shops and houses where the lepers attempted to live ordinary lives. And look round the old hospital and graveyard.
Later, you'll sail back to Elounda. Once there, you can swim, stretch out in the sunshine or watch the world go by at a café. You'll also have lunch in a local taverna. And rounding off the day is a visit to Agios Nikolaos, a chic seaside town sheltered by two offshore islets.
