With its past as an ancient Roman fort along the River Severn, Gloucester has since flourished into a successful port city. It's most famous building is its majestic cathedral, whose Norman Romanesque and English Gothic architecture have made it world-renowned. Another thing which has brought it even further into the spotlight was the use of the cathedral's cloisters as a filming location for the Harry Potter films, being transformed into the corridors of Hogwarts School. Stroll around and feel the magic of the building and what lies within. Surrounded by water, the city has an open feel, so why not stroll along the canal, or take a boat down it, enjoying the beautiful nature which surrounds you. If nature is your thing then be sure to head up to Robinswood Hill Country Park whose steep hill is worth the climb as you are rewarded with stunning views over the whole city. This city offers you lots of history and what better way to see it than by strolling around the half-timbered houses, or peeking your head into the various museums: from aviation to soldiers to waterways, Gloucester has a museum for it all, so be ready to enjoy some fantastic nature and some fascinating history.
