Goan jungle village tour with spice farm and elephant experience
Beneath a thick canopy of green, your local guide will reveal the secrets of the Goan jungle on this full-day tour. As they lead you into the rainforest, the sights and sounds of the jungle will come alive as you hear stories of survival and sustainable living. A big part of surviving in the jungle is understanding the plants, so there's a spice and herb farm tour to learn more about their medicinal benefits, as well as what's good to eat and what you should avoid. Then, it's time to put your foraging lesson to the test as you gather wild ingredients for a cooking demonstration that will be part of your lunch later on. While the spices are simmering, you'll head to the eco-village to learn more about how the locals live in harmony with the jungle. They'll welcome you into their houses and show you the sustainable efforts they're making, like turning kitchen waste into cooking gas. After enjoying the fruits of your labour at lunch, it's elephant time. You'll help prepare food for the elephants and then learn from their carers about how they gently communicate and connect with these majestic creatures before you watch them enjoy their mud baths in the river. Then, for the last hour of the tour it's your turn to swim and splash or simply float in a natural pool, taking in your exotic yet peaceful surroundings.

Goa overnight houseboat cruise on the backwaters of Chapora River
As the Chapora River gently winds inland, the heritage and nature of the land is revealed. You'll take on a new appreciation of Goa, beyond its famous beaches, as you venture up the river on this adults-only overnight cruise on a luxury houseboat, known locally as a ‘floating villa'. As you pass a smattering of villages and houses, the long-lasting influence of Portugal's 450-year rule over Goa will become obvious, with the vibrantly painted houses and their terracotta roofs and ornate balconies. Look out over Sai Island for a glimpse of its resident peacocks, cranes and geese, before grabbing some snacks and drinks and trying your hand at fishing from the boat. As you near Camurlim, you'll catch a romantic sunset that paints the sky in shades of gold, amber and pink. Then it's on towards Bird Sanctuary Island where you could spot white storks, kingfishers and eagles as you eat dinner out on the deck. Then, head to the upper deck for a spot of moonlight dancing and stargazing before you turn in for the night. In the morning you'll wake up to the sound of birdsong and tuck into a hearty breakfast, as you cruise back towards the mouth of the river, where you'll be chauffeured back to your hotel.
