Just a short ferry ride away from Gran Canaria, Tenerife is a must-visit. The largest Canary Island is dominated by Mt Teide volcano, which is one of the stars of this whistlestop tour. Also on the agenda are the colonial city of La Laguna, the pretty village of Icod de los Vinos and the capital, Santa Cruz.
After a scenic crossing, you'll head straight for La Laguna on arrival. Its old town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site – and you'll see why. It boasts a well-preserved collection of pastel-coloured mudejar palaces and churches. Wander around its history-steeped streets before heading for the viewpoint La Tarta for views of Teide, rising 3,715 metres above sea level. We'll stop in Teide National Park for a stroll around its lava-scarred landscapes.
Next up is hillside Icod de los Vinos, famed for its trees and coastal views. Enjoy a guided walk and wine tasting followed by free time to grab a bite. Rounding off the day is Santa Cruz. Explore its atmospheric old town before boarding the ferry.
