Begin with a visit to the Bai Tho Mountain peak. Located 186 meters high, you'll receive magnificent views of the islands scattered across the Ha Long Bay. Then, at the base of the mountain, see Long Tien Pagoda, the largest pagoda in Ha Long City. Built in 1941 as a place to worship Buddha, it also holds altars dedicated to the warriors of the Tran Dynasty and to the Holy Mother of Three Palaces.
Next, travel to the Temple of Tran Quoc Nghien, in the area of Ben Doan - Hon Gai, Ha Long City, Quang Ninh Province. This temple is dedicated to Tran Quoc Nghien, one of Tran Hung Dao's sons, who was a general in the resistance against the Yuan-Mongol invaders. Continue to Hon Gai Church, built at the beginning of the 20th century, overlooking the entire city. In 1972, it was destroyed by the war, but was spaciously re-built in 1998 and is the largest church in Quang Ninh Province.
Finally, after lunch at a local restaurant, you will visit Quang Ninh Provincial Museum. Learn about the early cultures of Ha Long, Ly and Tran Dynasties, Quang Ninh's ethnic groups, times of wars, history and see over 10,000 preserved artifacts.
