Musement is dedicated to bringing you the best, which is why we're introducing you to the TUI Collection designed by TUI, the world leader in travel.
Coconuts are everywhere in Ko Samui – they're the lifeblood of the island. And on this tour, you'll get the inside scoop on what it takes to live in this popular tourist retreat. You'll get to see the locals at work with a trip to the Coconut Museum, visit the Tar Nim waterfall, Magic Garden and the Khao Hua Jook pagoda. Somchai, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘The coconut is so important to the local culture, and every part of the fruit and tree has its use. As well as in cooking, coconuts are used to build houses, craft kitchenware, and as a fuel source.'
It's an educational start to the day, with an introduction to the history of ‘Coconut Island' at the Coconut Museum. Have a go at using traditional methods to produce coconut oil and milk and discover how the island economy relied on coconuts before tourism became more prevalent. You'll find out what gives the Koh Samui coconut its unique character, and watch as artisans create utensils from the shells.
Next, you'll set off on an adventure through the forested mountains of the island's interior. You'll visit the Tar Nim waterfall and Magic Garden, a sculpture park atop Pom Mountain which took its creator 25 years to make. As we drive up to a mountain restaurant for a traditional Thai lunch made with homegrown ingredients, there's a side order of panoramic views. Last stop is the historic Khao Hua Jook pagoda, where you'll receive a Buddhist monk blessing in the ancient Pali language.
