You will begin this hike outside the Kristiansand Tourist Office in the Town Hall and make your way through quiet streets to a charming park between the city and the forest, where you may spot birds, squirrels and perhaps even a deer.
From there, you will enter the Kristiansand forest (Bymarka), pass Lake Bånetjønn and climb a steep stone stairway through a narrow passage. At the top, you will follow a woodland path towards Lake Bergvannet, where you will pause for refreshments and, on warm days, enjoy a swim.
Afterwards, you will head towards Ravndalen (the Valley of the Raven), stopping at scenic viewpoints along the way. A dramatic precipice will reveal magnificent views over Kristiansand and the Skagerrak Sea before you descend carefully into the valley. In Ravndalen, you will find refreshments before continuing towards the historic park gifted to the city by King Christian IV of Denmark in 1641.
