The Garden, spanning a vast 9,000 square metres, stands as one of the most bewitchingly mystical gardens in Morocco. Crafted over four decades, this enclosed complex is a maze of crisscross paths, layered levels, and Moorish Art Deco structures painted in striking hues. The garden presents an immense and lavish showcase of exotic flora from far-flung corners of the globe, envisioned as both a haven and a research ground by French artist Jacques Majorelle, starting in 1922.
In 1980, Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé, who had discovered Morocco in 1966, bought the Garden to prevent its destruction by a proposed hotel complex project. These new custodians chose to reside in Jacques Majorelle's villa, which they rechristened Villa Oasis.
In the words of Yves Saint Laurent: "For many years, I have found in the Majorelle Garden an inexhaustible source of inspiration, and I have often dreamed of its unique colors."
