The Museum of Jewish Padova, strongly desired in 1522 by the Padovana Jewish Community, still constitutes up to this day a significant location rich in culture. Located in the middle of the historical center, known as the "ghetto", and situated in the former German synagogue, the Museum was set ablaze in May 1943 by fascists and was then restored in the late nineties.
The Museum collects various objects of Jewish tradition coming from the Paduan Community itself and from private donors. Among these, we find marriage contracts, ritual objects, crowns and texts of prayer and music. A greatly innovative aspect of the museum is the presence of a video-installation called " Generazione che va, generazione che viene" from the work of director Denis Brotto. On a journey between present and past, you will be able to soak in the life and history of ten important Jewish figures who lived in the Paduan Community from the Fifteenth century up to the present day.
