Discover Epernay and its surroundings during this pleasant afternoon tour which will take you through Champagne Avenue, Hautvillers’ vineyard and two small Champagne wineries for some tasting.
Upon meeting your guide at 2.00pm, you will start your afternoon with a visit of a family-run boutique winery. You will get a tour of the traditional press and vat room that is still used today, as your guide details the traditional Champagne method with a concrete and visual approach. You will then go for a tasting session where you will get to try several products, which will allow you to acquire further knowledge and expertise on Champagne wines.
Following this first visit, you will go for a drive through the famous Champagne Avenue in Epernay, the capital of Champagne, where some of the most prestigious estates are based. You will be able to appreciate the breathtaking views of these UNESCO world heritage Champagne vines and will acquire knowledge of the "terroir" and its particularities.
You will then make a stop in the Hautvillers which is considered the birthplace of Champagne. You will have a chance to discover the village, and will visit the church where the famous monk Dom Pérignon is buried. You will finish your afternoon with another Champagne tasting in a second small family winery, where you will be able to taste and compare various “cuvées” and enjoy a pairing with regional snacks.
After an afternoon full of experiences and precious souvenirs, your guide will drop you off in front of the tourist office of Reims' central train station between 6.30pm and 7.00pm.
