Today, you’ll travel to Romania’s capital, Bucharest, to see some of its must-see sights. Once you reach Bucharest, you’ll start with a drive through the city centre, passing a couple of major plazas on the way. You’ll see Unirii Square, which is home to a giant water fountain, and the 100-year-old Triumph Arch. It’s a smaller version of Paris’ world-famous archway. Afterwards, you’ll journey to Revolutionary Square – where Romania’s communist dictator, Nicolae Ceauşescu, was overthrown in 1989 – and visit the old quarter for a guided tour. The latter’s Art Nouveau buildings and ancient churches are the only parts of Bucharest that survived the Second World War. Once you've worked up an appetite, it's time to tuck into a 4-course lunch at a local restaurant. After, you'll have a snippet of free time to spend as you wish, before heading back to Rousse. Just so you know, it's around a 1 hour 45 minute drive from Rousse to Bucharest.
