What to expect

This experience is an 11-12 mile guided bicycle tour along the beautiful and scenic Mission Reach Trail as it winds along the San Antonio River.

This tour will take you to Mission Concepcion, Mission San Jose and other fascinating sites. At each mission your tour guide will walk the grounds with you and talk about the 18th-century Spanish Colonial period. You will gain an understanding about how these missions transformed the daily lives of the mission inhabitants, impacted the surrounding communities and help mold the culture of San Antonio and South Texas. Additionally, the tour guide will discuss the importance of the San Antonio River to the region and cover portions of local 19th and 20th Century history.

In addition to Mission Concepcion and Mission San Jose, other stops along the tour route include the Co-Cobijos art installation, the River Return art installation and the historic Hot Wells of Bexar County. Your tour guide will stop briefly at each site and provide an overview.

This tour offers a more in depth history of the San Antonio River, as well as San Pedro Creek. It also offers a wider range of history and is a great compliment to our Heart of San Antonio walking tour and/or a visit to the Alamo.

Kindly meet at Mini Storage Facility - 3502 Mission Rd, San Antonio, Tx 78214. The tour starts and ends at the same location, just south of Mission San Jose on Mission Road. Directions and instruction will be provided in your confirmation email once you book a tour.

What to remember

Please note that you can optionally upgrade to an electric bike for an addition $25. Note that You must be 18 or older with a valid driver's license
This tour is not available for guests under 12 years
Note that although the majority of this route is relatively flat, there are a few rolling hills. The Tour Guide will match your pace and riding abilities
Please ensure you are physically able to bicycle 8 to 9 miles
You will be required to wear a helmet, which is provided
Regarding e-bikes, the Tour Guide will provide ample instructions and make sure you are comfortable with the e-bike features before the tour begins
Please dress appropriately for bicycling and dress according to weather. Clothes to protect you from the sun are recommended as many sections of the bicycle trail are not shaded
Please bring water, snacks, sunscreen. In the summer months it is recommended to have electrolytes
There are 15L backpacks available for you to use
Bathrooms and water refill stations are located at each Mission. It is important to note that there are no Public Restrooms at this tour start and end location
