Enjoy wonderful interactions with some of Asia’s warmest people, the local Khmer communities.
Begin your tour at the CMAC museum to learn about the legacy of civil war and how it affected the lives of millions. Discover how life after the war changed. Then, meet some local families who make a living by growing vegetables, raising chickens and ducks, and producing bamboo sticky rice. Enjoy a simple Khmer-style lunch at the community before walking to a local fish farm and an ancient pagoda where you will witness a traditional monk's blessing.
Afterward, discover the ancient ruins of Beng Melea, a lost jungle temple on the outskirts of the Angkor Complex. Some say Beng Melea may have been a prototype for the centerpiece of the empire, Angkor Wat. Admire the temple completely overgrown by jungle. Enjoy fantastic photo opportunities of trees growing out of towers, walls covered in thick green moss, and tree roots entwined in the crumbling structure. You will notice that no restoration work has been carried out, which makes some parts of the temple inaccessible. However, you can enjoy the views from a large boardwalk with viewing platforms wrapped around the temple.
