Catch a glimpse of Cuba beyond the beaches and visit the raw tropical beauty of the Zapata peninsula. You'll visit a folkloric themed park, an indigenous village and a crocodile farm as well as enjoying an afternoon sipping drinks on a Caribbean beach.
Drive south through Matanzas province to Fiesta Campesina themed park, where you'll see some of the more folkloric aspects of the island's countryside and savour a piña colada. Then you'll visit the nearby Guama crocodile breeding farm. You'll be able to walk around pools where these endangered endemic reptiles live.
There's a visit to Aldea Taina, a replica of a pre-colonial aboriginal village, before heading to Punta Perdiz on the eastern shore of the famous Bay of Pigs. You don't have to swim far to discover colourful coral, making this a great snorkelling spot. After a seafood lunch, relax on the beach nursing a drink from the open bar – utter bliss.
