Major Exhibition “THE WORLD GOES SWIMMING”
Between imperial spa towns, Baltic beaches, and international bathing culture, a truly unique place of memory, fashion, and longing for the sea is being created on the island of Usedom. From the historic seaside resorts of the Baltic coast to Pamela Anderson’s iconic red Baywatch swimsuit, the exhibition tells the fascinating story of bathing as a reflection of the spirit of the times, freedom, and lifestyle.
With spectacular exhibits, international stagings, and unique original pieces, the exhibition becomes a highly personal experience. The original red Baywatch swimsuit worn by “Pam” is being brought directly from the Design Museum in London to Usedom.
The exhibition begins with original items from before the era of bathing costumes and then presents the very first full-body swimsuits. Under themes such as “Woman Power” and “Body Positivity,” it explores bans, scandals, the right to self-determination, and body pride over a span of 150 years.
“THE WORLD GOES SWIMMING” also offers numerous interactive and relaxation options for families. Photo spots, a ball pit, and cozy lounging areas complement the exhibition.
