Avoid the midday-heat on this early morning adventure on Sri Lanka's east coast. The seas off Trincomalee are teaming with whales and dolphins – and this cruise offers you the chance to see them basking and cavorting in the Indian Ocean. Spinner, common and bottlenose dolphins, as well as blue, fin and sperm whales are just some of the species you'll see. You'll also venture into Trincomalee for a tour of the city.
You'll head out on a trip to catch a glimpse of these huge creatures, known to take residence or migrate in eastern Sri Lanka. Keep an eye out for any spurts of water in the distance – a sign that one of the whales is near. And you can hear them a mile off, as their songs can reach almost 200 decibels – that's louder than a jumbo jet.
On the way back, you might encounter pods of dolphins racing with the boat. And once you're back on dry land, it's off to Trincomalee itself for a guided tour of the city.
