Il faut quelque chose de spécial pour qu'une petite île se distingue des milliers d'autres en Grèce, mais c'est un honneur que Patmos mérite amplement. Découvrez les charmes de cet îlot en forme de tache d'encre situé au sud de Samos grâce à cette excursion d'une journée. Une fois débarqué, vous avez la journée pour vous - trouvez une belle plage ou explorez à pied.

Le voyage commence par une traversée en ferry de 2,5 heures sur la mer Égée jusqu'au port pittoresque mais animé de Skala, sur la côte est. Son front de mer est bordé de tavernes, de terrasses de café, de restaurants de fruits de mer et de boutiques. Patmos est très étroite à cet endroit et, à 10 minutes de marche à l'ouest, se trouve la plage de galets de Hohlakas.

Si vous recherchez un peu d'histoire, la randonnée jusqu'à la colline de Hora, à 3 km de Skala, est incontournable. Son labyrinthe de ruelles étroites et blanchies à la chaux est surplombé par le monastère fortifié de St John. En fait, un bâtiment sur deux semble être une église ou un monastère - et une grotte à l'extérieur du village est censée être l'endroit où l'Apocalypse a été écrite.

In the early evening, you'll board the ship ‘Archaggelos' and sweep past the colourful fishing boats and waterfront cafes of Pythagorion Port. You can relax onboard this adults-only cruise as you sail to Klima Beach, where the captain will drop anchor for an hour. The water in this sheltered bay is calm and clear – perfect for a swim. After an hour of splashing about here, it's back onboard to sail towards Heraion and a stunning Samos sunset. Fruit and drinks are served so you can raise a glass as the sky turns from orange to red and purple.
