An exciting temporary exhibition, entitled "Chagall, Picasso, Mondrian and Others: Migrant Artists in Paris", displays at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam from 21 September 2019 until 2 February 2020 amazing works by famous and less famous artist migrants, that moved to the French capital in the years 1900–1950 and made art reach new horizons.
The exhibition examines the artistic and social development of world famous masters like Chagall, Picasso and Mondrian, but not only, in the context of a cultural and political climate in which, for many years, freedom, openness and cosmopolitanism battled against nationalism, xenophobia and anti-Semitism.
Your ticket is valid for the exhibition and for the Stedelijk Museum itself, the largest museum for modern and contemporary art in the Netherlands. It houses more masterpieces from Mondrian and Picasso, as well as artworks by Lichtenstein, Haring, Appel, Dumas, De Kooning, Malevich, Koons, Kusama, showcasting the developments in art and design from 1880 to the present. Here you can marvel at top works from greatest artists representing the most important art movements such as Bauhaus, the Amsterdam School, De Stijl, CoBrA, abstract-expressionism, pop art, minimal art and conceptual art.
