Continue to Schermerhorn, where hundreds of years ago 52 windmills made land out of water and visit one of the few that’s left. Explore it from top to bottom and dont forget to view the panoramic landscape surrounding it!
Next, travel to the enclosing dyke. This water barrier is the most impressive example of Dutch water management connecting the provinces of Noord Holland and Friesland. Stop at the watchtower for a look upon the construction with the 'wadden sea' on one side and the ‘IJsselmeer lake’ on the other.
In the fishing village of Urk you will soak in the island atmosphere as you stroll to past the lighthouse and old church by the sea. Finally, conclude your tour at one of the best-preserved medieval castles in the country - the Muiderslot.
