The inside story

The Synagogue of Córdoba may be small, but it's rich with history and culture. Built in 1313, it is one of only three original surviving pre-expulsion synagogues in the country, and the only in Andalusia. This rare building was designed to hold only thirty people at a time, but it makes up for its small size by reaching high into the sky to allow sunlight to enter from above the surrounding rooftops. The walls inside are richly decorated with intricate white Mudéjar decoration and Hebrew writings. Officially declared a historical monument in 1885, this hidden gem is well worth a visit on any trip to Andalusia!
