North-Macedonians are known for their warm and welcoming hospitality. Throughout history, the people in this country had to survive with a small amount of food. That’s why local people have shared the little bit they had. So, a lot of people became autarkic and until today they still produce their own food or find it in the natural environment. For example, people make ayvar, marmalade, honey, tied peppers, pindzur, makalo, turshija and even distilling their own rakija. All of this is happening in the gardens of local people at home.
From your accommodation you'll be brought to the local garden where the residents with their pets will welcome you. This home is located on the Lake of Ohrid between the city’s Ohrid and Struga. After entering, there will be a presentation about traditional food and together with the residents you'll make North-Macedonian dishes. While doing so, feel free to dive into the water of the lake and have some drinks. When the food is done, it’s time to taste the result. Afterwards you will be brought back to your accommodation, with amazing memories and flavors!
