Paxos and Antipaxos
Excursions & day trips

Paxos and Antipaxos

The islands of Paxos and Antipaxos may be small but their beauty is big and bold. Leaving the port of Parga, we'll set sail into the open seas towards Antipaxos, the smaller of the two. Its long stretches of white sand and Caribbean feel make it feel like it's one in a dozen. After some relaxing on deck and swimming, we'll hit the seas once more along the west coast, famous for the Blue Caves before heading to Gaios, the capital Paxos. With its Venetian-style mansions facing the islet of St Nicholas, it's a charmer. You'll have free time to roam around its narrow lanes or have lunch.

Secret Epirus
Excursions & day trips

Secret Epirus

Ancient Greek myths come to life during this River Acheron valley tour. The Acheron was known to the ancients as the Styx, and it was one of the five rivers of the underworld. Fringed by trees and ranging in colour from emerald green to tropical turquoise, the river flows into the amazing Ammoudia Bay. Here, you'll board a riverboat for a cruise, following a route taken by mythical heroes such as Hercules and Ulysses. We then head inland to the village of Glyki for a traditional Greek lunch at a riverside tavern. In the afternoon, a guided ramble takes you to the Acheron Springs.

Ionian Cruise

By dipping your toes in five Ionian Islands, you'll experience the best these idyllic shores have to offer. We'll set sail in the mid-morning from Lefkas, making waves towards Kefalonia. But first, there's time for swimming at Porto Katsiki on the west coast – a spot that's all white sands framed by steep cliffs. Then it's over to pastel-painted port of Fiskardo in Kefalonia. After a swim stop in Ithaca, there's time for some relaxation on board as we sail around Meganissi and on to Skorpios – or Onassis – which is covered in pine woods and shrouded in secrecy.

Vikos Gorge & Ioannina
Excursions & day trips

Vikos Gorge & Ioannina

The area around Parga really packs a punch in the beauty stakes. You'll start at Ioannina, the capital of Epirus. Set on a lake, it's got a Turkish look and feel due to its Ottoman past. Next, it's on to stroll around Monodendri, where an old monastery overlooks the Vikos Gorge. Soak up the views over the ravine, whose sheer walls tip 500m in height. You'll then explore Zagoria. Tucked into the northern Pindos Mountains, it's another world – think steep wooded slopes, mountain streams and rustic villages. A highlight is the village of Kipi, where you'll see its three-arched stone bridge.

Mighty Meteora
Excursions & day trips

Mighty Meteora

When your name means ‘middle of the sky', you're no ordinary tourist attraction. It's a long trip to Meteora from Parga – but it's well worth the journey through the hills of western Thessaly. Meteora's ancient monasteries sit on top of sandstone towers carved out by Mother Nature. Originally, there were 24 built, of which six remain active. You'll visit the largest, the Monastery of Great Meteoron. At more than 600m, it's also the highest. Its frescoes are alone worth the trip up. Rounding off the day is some free time for lunch in Kalambaka followed by a chance to explore the red-roofed mountain town of Metsovo.
