Take a full-day tour with a guide to explore the best places of Provence and visit the most beautiful monuments of the region.
Departure from Avignon to Roussillon built at the top of an ochre cliff. You'll see an harmonious combination of man and nature, of ochre and stone with all these ochre-washed façades. If you take the tour on Thursday, you'll have the chance to go to the market in Roussillon.
You'll then head to Gordes, a village erected on the top of a cliff. Its fortified castle and church dominate the typical houses of the village which were built with stones from the rock on which they are fitting. If you take the tour on Tuesday, you'll have the chance to go to the market in Gordes.
The tour continues to Fontaine de Vaucluse where you'll walk up to the cave from which the River Sorgues emerges. This impressive resurgence spring hasn't revealed its secrets yet and many speleologists have searched in vain the exact depth of the well.
Free time for lunch (not included) on your own in Gordes or Fontaine de Vaucluse.
After lunch, you'll reach the Pont du Gard (entrance fees included), the best preserved aqueduct of the Roman period, dating back to the 1st century and listed by UNESCO.
You'll get free time to visit this medieval village Les Baux de Provence located on a rocky spur in the Alpilles mountain range. You'll discover its historical center, its beautiful houses of the 16th century, and the Romanesque-styled St-Vincent Church. Photo stop at the Antiques in Saint Rémy de Provence (Triumphal Arch and mausoleum) located in an olive-tree field.
On Sundays only, enjoy L’Isle sur la Sorgue, village famous for its antique shops and the weekly open air market which is one of the most colorful and typical in Provence.
The order of visits will then change on Sunday to include the stop at the market in Isle sur Sorgue.
