The Amatller House Museum, key work of the architect Puig i Cadafalch, is one of the most exceptional buildings of modernist Catalan architecture in Barcelona and one of the most comprehensive house museums of Catalan Modernism.
Located in the Manzana de la Discordia (Block of Discord), along with the Casa Batlló by Antoni Gaudí and the Casa Lleo i Morera by Domènech i Montanter, the Amatller House Museum is an authentic hidden treasure in the heart of the city which conserves all of its splendour and the essence of the beginning of the century thanks to its original furniture and decoration, the fruit of extensive and careful restoration.
Built in 1898 by industrialist and chocolatier Amatller Antoni, who made his fortune by introducing industrial production methods to the family business, Amatller Chocolates, the house is now owned by the Amatller Institute of Hispanic Art Foundation. The foundation is dedicated to the research and promotion of Hispanic art and works to preserve, protect and raise awareness of this incredible heritage site in its original state.
