With innumerable sandy dunes and a fairly desolate interior, Boa Vista is heaven for quad bikers. Spend two hours blasting along the island's deserted trails, with some memorable pit stops in between. You'll first receive instruction on how to handle these powerful four-wheelers then take the wheel yourself or choose a double quad and you can relax as the passenger. Then, you'll rev out of the base, headed for Cabo Santa Maria beach. Normally, the turquoise ocean and pristine sands would be the main attraction – but the show-stealer is the steel skeleton of a huge cargo ship that wrecked on the reef here in the 1960s.
