Experience the daily life and culture of Thai and Muong ethnic minorities on this 3-day trip to Mai Chau and Pu Luong from Hanoi.
Day 1: Hanoi – Mai Chau- Pu Luong
The trip starts with a pick-up at your hotel in the morning and a drive to Hoa Binh Province (80km west of Hanoi). On the route to Mai Chau, admire the magnificent scenery on both sides, then stop at a local market. Then, head to Mai Chau Valley and the village of Pom Coong for a bit of rest and lunch. After lunch, you'll go for a hike through the Pu Luong Reserve, walking amidst rice fields and gigantic mountains. You'll cross small villages, and see the traditional daily life of the locals. You'll spend your first night with a local family in one of the Thai stilt houses.
Day 2: Trek to Kho Muong Village
Kick off your second day with a gorgeous sunrise over the mountain top before breakfast. Then, you'll go on a trek to reach a high vantage point and enjoy stunning views of the valley, rice terraces, and rainforests. A picnic lunch will be served when you reach Hin village, then you'll continue to Hieu Village considered the most aesthetically beautiful rural village in all of Vietnam. The last stop is Kho Muong village, a peaceful village amid the high mountain, where you can spend free time strolling around before turning for the night in a traditional Thai-style stilt house.
Day 3: Mai Chau – Hanoi
The third day starts with a 3-hour trek. First, a nice and easy stretch, perfect to connect with your surroundings and warm you up for the challenges ahead! You'll make a short stop in Ban Hieu Village, then conquer some steep climbs and even more thrilling river crossings before the valley opens up into fantastic views. Next, you'll move to Pho Doan Village and have time to rest before heading back to Hanoi. You'll stop for lunch along the way, and arrive at your hotel in Hanoi in the late afternoon.
