Countryside in Lake Como

St Moritz & Bernina Express
Separated by a wealth of stunning scenery, the borderlands between Italy and Switzerland are a joy to explore. Flanked by pine-clad slopes and grazing cows, we'll travel to the lakeside town of Tirano, before boarding the Bernina Express train – Europe's highest alpine railway. Grab some epic Instagram snaps of the glacial Alps on this scenic rail-route, and then take a short bus ride to the famous Swiss ski resort of St Moritz. With around 2-hours to explore, you can stop to try Swiss cheese and chocolate in a mountainside café and enjoy wow-factor views over the Engadine Valley before returning to resort via the spectacular Maloja Pass.

Piona Abbey Tour & Wine Tasting
With a rugged beauty all of its own, the eastern shores of Lake Como are a joy to explore. It all begins by rolling through the Italian countryside, towards Piona Abbey. You've free time to soak up the serenity the Cistercian monks enjoy here and explore on your own. We'll then head to Valtellina cellar. Nestled in an alpine pass along the border with Switzerland, they've been making wine for over 2000 years, and are said to be the birthplace of bresaola – a delicious air-dried beef. Where better to wind-down the tour with a wine tasting session and some locally produced snacks.
