During this full day tour from Lisbon you will visit the Sanctuary of Fátima, which is one of the most important Christian sites with approximately 5 million visitors each year. Fall in love with Óbidos, a romantic medieval village full of flowers!
Drive to Fátima through the agricultural lands of Ribatejo. Visit the Sanctuary of Fátima and Capelinha das Aparições; a true heart of sanctuary and the exact place the Virgin apparition is marked with a marble column and her image. Have a look at the olive tree where the three little children waited for the apparition. You will also visit the beautiful Basílica de Nossa Senhora do Rosário de Fátima. Discover the stunning 14th century Batalha Monastery, which was written into UNESCO’s list of World Heritage. It is the most significant symbol of the Avis Dynasty and built by the initiative of D. João I of Portugal.
Take a photo at the top of the Nazaré Cliffs with stunning views over the Atlantic Ocean and hear about the famous legend of D. Fuas Roupinho. The village maintains a strong and long tradition of fishing activity since its origin. It has an enormous variety of good fish, seafood restaurants and is known as a summer retreat for Portuguese people. Later, have a relaxing lunch in the fishing town of Nazaré, with a great variety of regional restaurants and snack-bars. Enjoy the sea breeze while driving along the Atlantic coast passing gorgeous cliffs and picturesque villages of Foz do Arelho and São Martinho do Porto. You will stop in some great lookout places on top of the cliff for pictures.
Your tour will continue by driving along the lagoon of Óbidos heading towards a medieval town. Entering the village of Óbidos is like going back in time to when Óbidos was great and important. You will have free time to explore the narrow streets, the castle walls and visit the handicraft and traditional souvenir shops. Finish your tour in style tasting the famous Ginja liquor in a chocolate cup.
