What to expect

During this guided tour of the Halles de Lyon, you will be able to discover little secrets and the great history of Lyon's cuisine. Through anecdotes and expressions from our region, you will learn that the Roman emperor Caracalla, who visited Lyon, was amazed by the feast he was served, even more so when he learned that under the appearance of dovecote, poulards and fish there was one and the same meat hidden. That day, the reputation of Lyon's pigs was established.

In the heart of the famous market of Lyon, in a friendly atmosphere, this guided tour, in collaboration with 4 shopkeepers and family businesses, offers a mix of culture and gastronomy. During your visit, you will enjoy tastings, discover recipes to share and meet some of the 48 artisans and merchants, including Philippe Caillouet, Best Cheese Maker in France.
