What to expect

The warm waters of Madeira make the ideal spot for a first time scuba dive. Discover a world below the waves with this PADI Open Water course. This three-day programme is intensive but fun. Even if you've no experience, your friendly diving instructors will have you enjoying the underwater kingdom in no time.

You'll start the course with a day in the pool. Getting to grips with your equipment, you'll learn diving theory and some all-important scuba skills. On the following days, you'll continue to learn and practice – this time in the Atlantic Ocean.

Over the three-and-a-half-day course, you'll eventually dive to a maximum of 18m depth. You'll need to pass a practical and written test to become a qualified diver, but your expert teachers make the whole course fun and informative so you'll learn lots. And when completed, you'll have a world recognized diving qualification to take with you, wherever you go.

What to remember
  • Certification fee of EUR 120.00 per person and Nature Reserve fee of EUR 10.00 per person is not included and needs to be paid locally
  • A medical certificate is required to participate
  • The SSI Try Scuba Medical Questionnaire must be filled out and signed before participating
  • In the event of cancellation or termination, no refund is possible unless caused by weather or force majeure or proved medical conditions
  • Please note, the supplier of this activity requires you to contact them two weeks before the activity, details can be found once you've booked
  • We recommend doing this at the start of your holiday
  • This activity has a duration of around six hours per day, running from 09:00 to 12:00, lunch break and then 13:00 to 16:00 – usually for three days
