Enjoy Latin vibes during Los Van Van concert in Magaluf in Mallorca, and dance all night long.
On 4 December 1969, this 16-piece orchestra, founded by composer, bassist, arranger, and National Music Prize winner Juan Formell, gave its first public concert. After Juan Formell's death in May 2014, his son and drummer Samuel took over the leadership of the group and, more than 50 years later, Los Van Van are still Cuba's favorite group and the flagship orchestra of Cuban popular dance music.
The first Latin Vibes evening at Es Jardí will feature the band, which won a Grammy in 2000 for its album Llegó Van Van Van Van and has won countless national and international awards and accolades. The orchestra has been the cradle of prestigious musicians and is the creator and advocate of the Songo, which will soon be recognized as a new rhythm of its own among popular Cuban rhythms. With influences as varied as traditional Cuban songs, Afro-Cuban rhythms and Cuban folklore, to rock n' roll, funk and pop, the group is distinguished by its use of picaresque lyrics and has been chronicling its times for more than five decades, placing many phrases in popular Cuban slang.
