Set off from Montpellier for a half-day tour through the landscapes of the Camargue, travelling in a comfortable, air-conditioned minivan.
Your first stop is Aigues-Mortes, a medieval town known for its fortified walls. Founded in the 13th century by King Louis IX, the town is home to imposing ramparts that you'll visit on a guided walk. Afterwards, you'll have free time to wander through the cobbled streets, browse local boutiques and take in the atmosphere of the town squares.
You'll then taste a selection of local specialities, including fougasse, a sweet bread, Camargue salt and other traditional products.
The tour continues to the Tour Carbonnière, a medieval watchtower surrounded by the marshlands of the Camargue. Climb to the top for panoramic views across the surrounding landscape before returning to Montpellier at around 5.30 pm.
