After meeting your guide at your hotel in Muscat, set off on an adventurous journey through the Al Hajar Mountains. Stop in Al Hamra, a historic village located in a heavenly oasis. Stroll through its narrow lanes and admire the ancient mud houses surrounded by lush greenery and palm trees.
Then, continue to Misfat Al Abriyeen, a unique village located 1,000 metres above sea level in the foothills of the mountains surrounding Al Hamra. Explore the ancient village on your own and discover its falaj water irrigation system. Stop at one of the new modern coffe shops recently opened in the historic houses, and enjoy lunch at a typical local restaurant along the way.
Next, visit Al Hoota Cave, located at the foot of Jebel Shams, Oman's highest mountain. It is the first and only show cave in the Arabian Peninsula, estimated to be over 2 million years old and extending for approximately 4.5 kilometres. Admire the stalagmites, stalactites and the magnificent Lion of the cave, a rock formation created by mineral deposits as water drips through the cave system. After emerging from this magical world, you'll start your journey back to Muscat.
