Olbia has a very ancient history, as witness the monuments and archaeological remains left by the Nuragic civilization, the Phoenicians, the Greeks, and the Romans. The itinerary of the tour will bring you first to the Basilica of S.Simplicio, an imposing Romanesque church made entirely of granite. Then you'll stop at the Church of S. Paolo renowned for its beautiful dome decorated with multicolored majolica. You'll take Corso Umberto, the main street of the historic center dotted with early twentieth-century buildings, traditional shops, boutiques, as well as restaurants and bars - perfect for a delicious break!
You'll travel down the ancient streets, passing by the eighteenth-century houses, and head to your next stop, the Roman Aqueduct. The aqueduct is of the most important testimonies of Roman history in Olbia and one of the most significant developments in infrastructures of that period. Not far from the aqueduct, you'll see the Roman Cistern, used for the conservation of rainwater.
You'll then head to the largest natural park in Sardinia, the 'Fausto Noce' Park, home to many species of Mediterranean vegetation. This park of eighteen hectares features benches, fitness trails, sports facilities, an amphitheater, fountains, and artificial lakes.
