What to expect

On this easy kayaking tour on the Sólheimajökull Glacier Lagoon, you will leave the sightseeing crowds behind and take in the beauty of the outlet glacier while on a kayak.

You will be equipped with a dry suit and your expert kayak guide will show you the paddling technique needed for the stable sit-on-top kayaks. The calm glacier lagoon is perfect for first-time kayaking and the views certainly don't disappoint. You will paddle between ever-changing icebergs and go up close with the Sólheimajökull glacier ice fall, where those giant icebergs break away from the glacier.

Don’t forget your camera, as this tour is sure to leave lasting memories.

Meeting point:

From the West (Reykjavík): 6 km (3.7 mi) after Skógar you turn left (just after the bridge) onto road 221 and then follow road 221 for about 5 km (3 mi) to the Sólheimajökull parking area. (Expected 20 - 30 min for this part). From the East (Vík): 3 km (1.9 mi) after you pass road 222, you turn right (just before the bridge) onto road 221 and then follow road 221 for about 5 km to the Sólheimajökull parking area. (Expected 20 - 30 min. for this part).
