The inside story
A stone's throw from the cube houses and the new and ultra-modern covered market (Binnenrotte Market) is the Oudehaven area. Dating back to the 14th century, it is the oldest port in Rotterdam. It can be said that the commercial and port life of the city developed thanks to this port.
In the historic harbor you can admire an impressive collection of ships and boats while relaxing at one of the bars or outdoor tables located in the area. Here you will also find the Willemsbrug bridge and the Witte Huis, which means 'white house' in Dutch, the first skyscraper in Europe, built in 1898.
