Muir Woods National Park tours and tickets

Muir Woods National Park is located north of San Francisco. The national park is famous for its giant sequoias trees some more than a thousand years old and reaching up to 76 meters high. It is one of the last of the historic redwoods that remain in the Bay Area and therefore protected as a National Monument since 1908.

In the park, you can find 380 different types of plants and animals such as the bobcat, slugs, grey foxes, deer, and butterflies. Follow one of the many walking trails to stroll under the majestic trees. You will find a total of 6 km of trails with various routes through the park all marked on the park map. The paths vary from easy 30-minutes or 1-hour walks accessible for strollers and wheelchairs up to longer hiking trails of up to 7-hours passing through the neighboring national parks.

The park is named after John Muir, a conversationist and the so-called father of the national parks. The land has been donated for the monument by William Kent who insisted the monument would be called after Mr. Muir. You can visit Muir Woods National Park all year during the opening times. Keep in mind that pets are not permitted inside and plan your visit ahead.
