The inside story
Bold colours, playful shapes and unmistakable imagination come together at Gaudí’s Capricho, one of Antoni Gaudí’s earliest masterpieces and a clear example of his creative genius. Just a stone’s throw away from Santander’s historic centre, this whimsical villa feels more like a piece of living art than a traditional building.
Built in the late 19th century as a summer residence, El Capricho is defined by its sunflower motifs, ceramic tiles, curved ironwork and pixel-like angles. Every detail reflects Gaudí’s fascination with nature, light and movement. From the green-tiled tower to the intricate balconies and musical embellishments worked into the design, you’re encouraged to look closer and spot something new in every corner.
