The Republic of Abkhazia is an officially unrecognized independent union.
Once popular destination for thousands of Soviet tourists, it is now terra incognita due to its political status. The area is a true gemstone on the Black Sea with its tropical environment, a beautiful coast, great history and hospitable people. While on the tour visit Stalin's dacha (summer residence) and Lake Ritza, later used by Leonid Brezhnev for private boat trips. Then have a short drive to Novy Aphon Monastery for a visit to the spectacular ancient church and a guided tour of the big cave right next to it.
After lunch you will take a drive to the capital, the ancient city of Sukhum.
There, enjoy a walk along the streets and embankment, drink coffee and feel the flavor of the local life. Return to Sochi in the late evening.
