What to expect

This is one of Norway's most popular hike, and it's not without a reason. Join this sunrise hike, beat the crowd and experience the sunrise over the mountains when on Pulpit Rock.

You first head to the Stavanger ferry station or Lauvvik ferry station and take the ferry across the fjord. From the other side, there is a short drive to Preikestolen Lodge, the starting point for the hike. The hike up will take between 2 and 3 hours. Once at Pulpit Rock you will spend some time enjoying the sunrise, the beautiful nature and most likely taking photos. You will also enjoy some packed beverages snacks here. The hike back will likely also take around 2 to 3 hours, with the expectation to arrive in Stavanger around 8.00-10.00am.

IMPORTANT: Please confirm the pick-up time (and place) directly with the local operator at least 48 hours before the event. You will find the contact information in the voucher after booking. Be ready 5 minutes before estimated pick up time in front of your main entrance.
What to remember
  • Hikers should be prepared with clothes and shoes accordingly to the weather forecast. Hiking boots are strongly encouraged, or approach shoes, at the very least. Other suggestions include warm, windproof and waterproof clothing
  • Bring some water with you to keep hydrated, preferably in a container that can be refilled on the trail. Norwegian mountains are full of crystal clear, clean and very tasty water sources. Lunch will not be provided, so please bring your own food and snacks
  • Last but not least, each hiker is responsible for carrying his/her own gear, so a suitable backpack is recommended
  • Approximately 8km distance in total
