This tour whisks you out of Germany and into neighbouring Luxembourg. It might be one of the smallest countries in the world, but it’s got plenty to shout about – including its clifftop capital city complete with UNESCO World Heritage Site status. This is where you’ll be heading today. After an just over an hour’s drive from Schweich, you’ll arrive in the city and start seeing the sights by bus. You'll then have eighty minutes free time to explore the city at your own pace. Top sights include the 16th-century Notre-Dame Cathedral, with its stained-glass windows, vaulted ceilings and bronze gates. There’s also St Michael’s Church, which blends Romanesque, Baroque and Gothic styles. The turreted Palace of the Grand Dukes, meanwhile, is where the head of state lives, which is why you’ll spot uniformed guards patrolling outside. After your free time you'll join the coach and head back to the ship in Trier.
