Take a train from Venice and discover the walled town of Monselice.
First, visit the completely furnished medieval Cini Castle. A real “treasure chest” with ancient weapons, coffers, fine tapestries, and splendid period furnishings from all over Italy. Listen to the history of this fascinating place, discover how its ancient inhabitants lived, and enjoy unexpected views of enchanting gardens. The Carraresi, the Scaligeri, the Visconti, and the Este, are only some of the famous Seigniories that contended the castle’s possession, whose spirits still seem to hunt in the rooms of the ancient manor.
After that, continue to the walled town Monselice by walking up Colle della Rocca, along what has been described as the most beautiful promenade in the Veneto region, via del Santuario, with its famous Seven Churches. Reminiscent of the Seven Basilicas of Rome, this walk is the only one that has the same meaning as the pilgrimage of Rome and is a destination for devotees from all over Europe.
Before coming back to Venice enjoy Villa Duodo, the Church of Saint George, and last but not least the great panorama of the walled town Monselice from the top.
The tour ends with a stop at an oil mill for a tasting of locally produced extra virgin olive oil.
