Come along on this tour and visit two unforgettable and very famous English cities; Oxford and Stratford-upon-Avon. Your driver-guide will spend the day providing commentary and historic anecdotes about everywhere you visit.
Stratford-upon-Avon is all about William Shakespeare. His birthplace, home base and burial space are all included in this walking tour. This small, very pleasant ancient market town, is full of Shakespeare related sights encompassing his entire life and family. You’ll stroll over the River Avon and through the old center discovering the Shakespeare presence as we explore.
You'll then take to the road again and make your way to Oxford. On the journey, you'll drive across the edge of The Cotswolds, taking in some lovely scenery as you travel. Oxford is the ‘city of dreaming spires’, medieval colleges and many magnificent old buildings. You'll be able to wander around taking in the colleges, history and architecture of Oxford, as well as learning about the people who helped make its name including Wren, Hawksmoor, Carroll, Tolkein; Alice and Potter!
There will always be coffee shops and places for bathroom breaks throughout the tour and the lunch location can be decided on the day.
Itinerary:
- 8.00am: Meet at your hotel/accommodation, drive to Stratford
- 10.30am: Arrive Stratford-upon-Avon
- 1.00pm: Leave Stratford-upon-Avon
- 2.30pm: Arrive in Oxford
- 4.30pm: Leave Oxford
- 6.30pm: Return to your London hotel/accommodation
