What to expect

At Madrid’s Reina Sofía Museum, you will admire the work from some of the best Spain’s 20th-century artists, including Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí. The museum is housed in an elegant old hospital building, and its vaulted hallways are the ideal place to discover many of Spain’s finest painters and sculptors. Your guide will explain some of 20th-century Spanish art, from Abstractionism to Cubism, Surrealism and Modernism. International artists are few in the collection, but there are works by Pierre Bonnard, Vasily Kandinsky, Robert Delaunay Georges Braque and a large work by Francis Bacon.

Along with its extensive collection, the museum offers a lots of temporary exhibitions in its many galleries, making it one of the world's largest museums for modern and contemporary art. It also hosts a free-access library specializing in art, with a collection of over 100,000 books, over 3,500 sound recordings and almost 1,000 videos.
