The inside story
The Vltava River is the longest river in the Czech Republic, starting in the Šumava mountain range in South Bohemia and flows all the way to the middle of Bohemia. The river is 270 miles long and passes through Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, where it covers around 19 miles within the city centre. There is a total of 18 bridges in Prague that cross over the river including the famous Charles Bridge.
The Vltava River has become a popular tourist attraction for its visitors. There are many water activities you can do on the river from kayaking, canoeing, renting a boat for the day or taking part in a river cruise. In the Náplavka area of the river, a farmer’s market is held every Saturday where you can buy local produce, baked goods, pottery and crafts along the river.
