There is a free shuttle bus which goes from Auschwitz to Birkenau and back - provided by the Auschwitz Museum.
If you want to take the round trip and visit the Museum with a guide, consider that the guided tour takes about 3:30 hours ad you have about 30 minutes time to purchase the entrance ticket.
