In front of Cenacolo di Santa Maria della Grazie, on the occasion of EXPO 2015, a new museum is opening: La Vigna di Leonardo da Vinci inside Casa degli Atellani, one of Leonardo's places in Milan.
In one of the key places of Da Vinci's Milan, an unknown story full of mystery that will enchant you is finally made available.
The enologist Luca Maroni, after 11 years of work, has been successful in his mission: discovery and replanting the original vineyard of Leonardo da Vinci in Milan.
Following excavations in the garden of the House of Atellani in collaboration with the Professor Attilio Scienza, the geneticist Serena Imazio and the podiatrist Rodolfo Minelli of the University of Milan, they found fragments of Vitis vinifera not completely dead and belonging to the original Leonardo's vineyard. This allowed the identification of the original variety cultivated in the vineyard of Leonardo and the subsequent retrieval of the currently living plants identical to the native ones. On the eve of Expo 2015 the same type was re-implanted, in the same site and with the same philological arrangement of Da Vinci's original vineyard.
The visit includes a route in 7 stages with the aid of an audio guide in 10 languages and descriptive panels along the way. The tour lasts about 30 minutes and are provided for groups up to 25 people every 15 minutes.
