You can choose between a group coach tour or a private tour for 1-6 people in a sedan or van.
Escape the hustle and bustle of Paris for a full day in Normandy, immersively exploring the sites of the historic Allied landings of 1944. As you travel, your guide will provide an engaging overview of Operation Overlord: detailing the strategic planning behind the invasion, the significance of the five landing beaches, and the crucial role played by American forces in the western sector.
Your first stop is Pointe du Hoc, where you'll explore the clifftop battlefield that saw 225 US Rangers bravely scale 30-meter cliffs under enemy fire to neutralise German artillery positions. The site still bears the scars of bomb craters and preserved German bunkers, which you're free to wander through at your leisure. Next, you'll tread on the sands of Omaha Beach, known as "Bloody Omaha" due to its status as the most heavily defended landing sector. Here, your guide will recount the harrowing events of the first assault waves at Vierville-sur-Mer and Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer. You'll also have the opportunity to view the poignant memorial sculptures scattered along the beach.
The final stop of your tour is the Normandy American Cemetery, where 9,388 American soldiers rest on a bluff overlooking Omaha Beach. Take a moment to walk among the white marble crosses, visit the memorial and reflecting pool, and absorb the panoramic views over the landing sector.
