What to expect

The Marais is one of the most vibrant, typical and varied districts in Paris, as well as being one of the oldest. Its diverse, well-preserved architecture bears witness to the different periods in history it has lived through. The area is an important cultural hub to this day, having rubbed shoulders with the greatest names in French arts and culture.

Our tour starts on Île de la Cité and will take in views of Notre-Dame Cathedral, the Elizabeth II flower market and many other monuments and places where the very history of Paris was made. Stepping over the Seine River, we will venture into the Vieux Marais, whose charmingly picturesque architecture and colourful streets are instantly recognizable.

We will then retrace the footsteps of some of the illustrious names who helped shape the district's history, including Victor Hugo and Honoré de Balzac. Our path will take us to the oldest square in Paris, the Place des Vosges, in the footsteps of the Marquise de Sévigné.

Last but not least, we'll head to Louis XIII square to enjoy our picnic made of fresh products bought during our visits to the local shops.
