Enjoy the sunset from the peak of Mauna Kea and learn about the stars and planets in the spot where the first black hole photo was taken!

You'll climb on the highest point in the Pacific and your guide will share with you the historical and cultural background of the Big Island. You'll be able to admire two of the eigh telescopes which photographed a black hole for the first time and enjoy a private star show with a Celestron telescope.

What to remember

Children under 13 years old are not allowed
The temperature can drop below zero at high elevation on the mountain, please wear pants and comfortable shoes, the guide will provide parkas and gloves for you
You should be able to walk on uneven or rocky terrain, even in muddy conditions
Because of high altitude this tour is not recommended for people with respiratory, circulatory or heart conditions, pregnant women or people with poor health; scuba divers should be aware of altitude dangers
You will be required to sign a wavier before the tour departure
Please note that the weather can change quicky and the access road to the summit may be closed without warning, therefore the access to the summit is not guaranteed in case of bad weather conditions
Your guide will take some photos for you during the tour and then send them to you by email
Please note that some meeting point locations may not be available in certain days
